Laser welding is to radiate a high-intensity laser beam to the metal surface. Through the interaction between the laser and the metal, the metal absorbs the laser and converts it into heat energy to melt the metal and then cool and crystallize to form welding. Compared with traditional welding methods, technology brings many advantages:

A. The beam spot is small, and the processing accuracy is doubled. The heat-affected zone is extremely small, the weld quality is high, and it is not easy to produce shrinkage, deformation, embrittlement and thermal cracking and other thermal side effects. The laser welding molten pool purification effect can purify the weld metal, and the mechanical properties of the weld are equal to or better than the base metal .

B. The use of optical fiber to transport the laser, so that the energy source and processing equipment can be separated spatially without difficulty. The light energy generated by the laser can be transmitted to a long distance station through an optical fiber with a small diameter, and the workpiece can be welded through an industrial robot.

C. The power and size of the laser focus can be dynamically adjusted according to the processing requirements, and the processing process can be monitored in real time to realize various application possibilities.

D. One laser welding robot can replace 3 to 4 resistance welding robots. If you make full use of laser welding technology to process a body, the cost of tooling investment, weldment preparation, material consumption, body sealing, etc. will be reduced by about 200 U.S. dollars, steel utilization can be increased by 50%.

The use of laser welding can save a lot of prototypes and tooling equipment, reduce the area of the workshop by half, and save investment. In the automobile industry, the value of the car body, which is a key component of the car, accounts for about 20% of the value of the entire car. The use of laser welding can reduce the overlap width and some strengthening parts, and it can also compress the volume of the body structure itself. The weight of the car body can be reduced by 56kg. Similarly, for a large number of spot welding in the body transfer, if the welding head is clamped on the edge of the workpiece for welding, the flange width needs to be 16mm, while the laser welding is unilateral welding, which only needs 5mm. Change the spot welding to laser Welding, each vehicle can save 40kg of steel. Using traditional spot welding to weld two 0.8mm steel plate stamping parts, the average is 20 points/min, the torch is 25mm, that is, the speed is 0.5m/min, and the laser welding speed can reach more than 5m/min.
